The SEA is looking for one or several activities that can deliver emission reductions, suitable for transfer under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Following a previous call for activities in the Dominican Republic, the SEA is now launching an additional procurement process directed at the Republic of Ghana. The public procurement is open to any actor that can propose a GHG mitigation activity in the Republic of Ghana, that is suitable for Article 6. Activities will need to be authorized by the government of Ghana and live up to requirements on environmental integrity, sustainable development and transformational impact – while enabling increased mitigation ambition.
Parallel to the public procurement process, the SEA and the Republic of Ghana are in dialogue about how a bilateral Article 6 cooperation between the two countries might look.
This is the second public procurement process for Article 6 activities launched by the SEA. Since there is yet no agreement on Article 6 rules from the UNFCCC negotiations, implementation of Article 6 activities will require flexibility and openness to changing circumstances.
